Who I am

This site is operated by Owen Fisher, originally from England, now based in Thailand. I'm a designer working with clients globally. For any privacy-related questions, please use the contact form.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller responsible for your personal data.

What data I collect

Chat interface

When you use the chat on this site, I collect and store:

• Your messages and the AI's responses
• A unique session ID generated for each page visit
• Your IP address (used for rate limiting and logging)
• Timestamp of each exchange

The chat is powered by an AI model. It is not me responding in real time — it's an AI trained on information I've provided. Your messages are processed by a third-party AI provider to generate responses.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, I collect your name, email address, and message. This is sent to me via email so I can respond to your enquiry. If you submit the contact form during a chat session, a summary of the conversation may be included in the email for context. Your name and email are also linked to your chat session to help me follow up.

Local storage

This site stores small amounts of data in your browser's local storage to improve your experience:

• Whether you've visited before (to personalise the welcome message)
• Your first name, if you share it during conversation
• Your motion preference (if you use the motion toggle)
• Visit count

This data stays on your device and is not sent to any server. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Rate limiting

Your IP address is held in server memory temporarily to enforce rate limits. This data is not persisted to any database and is cleared when the server restarts.

Why I collect this data

I process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interest under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f):

• Chat logs — to understand how visitors interact with the site and improve the experience
• Contact form data — to respond to your enquiry
• IP addresses — to prevent abuse and enforce rate limiting
• Local storage — to provide a personalised, returning visitor experience

Third-party processors

Your data may be processed by the following third parties, all of which are based in the United States and participate in recognised data transfer frameworks:

• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure. Your requests pass through Vercel's servers
• Neon — database hosting. Chat logs and session data are stored in a Neon PostgreSQL database
• Groq — AI inference. Your chat messages are sent to Groq to generate AI responses
• Resend — email delivery. Contact form submissions are sent via Resend

International data transfers

Your data is transferred from the UK to the United States (where Vercel, Groq, and Resend are based) and may be accessed from Thailand (where I am based). These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable.

How long I keep your data

Chat logs and contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months from the date of creation. Data older than 12 months is automatically deleted on a weekly schedule. If you request deletion of your data within the 12-month period, I will delete it promptly — just use the contact form. Rate limiting data is held in memory only and is not persisted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data I hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use cookies. It uses browser local storage (as described above) to remember your preferences. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), local storage used for site functionality does not require consent, as it is strictly necessary for the service you have requested.

Children's data

This site is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through this site, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.

If you have concerns about how I handle your data, please reach out first via the contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

All content on this site — including design, code, copy, and visual assets — is the property of Owen Fisher unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without my written permission.

The AI-generated chat responses are produced in real time and are not pre-written content. They are provided as-is for your personal use during the conversation.

Limitation of liability

This site is provided “as is” without any warranties, express or implied. I do not guarantee that the site will be available, error-free, or that the AI chatbot will provide accurate information.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site, including but not limited to reliance on information provided by the AI chatbot.

Data security

I take reasonable measures to protect your data. Communication with this site is encrypted in transit via HTTPS with HSTS preloading. IP addresses displayed in administrative tools are partially masked. Access to stored data is protected by authentication and is restricted to the site operator only.

While I strive to use best practices, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-party services

This site uses third-party services for hosting (Vercel), database storage (Neon), AI inference (Groq), and email delivery (Resend). Your use of this site is also subject to their respective terms of service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from the use of this site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes

I may update this policy and these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
